I love this OLED display. It is easy to use via SPI. Arduino and RPI has many decent libraries with them you can achieve your desired result easily. If you are just getting started, I recommend them for you. It's cheap and they are really high quality.

This is a great little screen that I used with an arduino Uno. Powers directly from the board. Initially had a problem with the screen only showing every other line but after changing from 128x32 to 128x64 in the SSD1306-library from Adafruit it works perfectly.

Compatible with Adafruit_SSD1306 library for arduino. Only change was to change 0x3D to 0x3C in example app. You need to find the SCL and SDA pins for your particullar arduino model and connect it accordingly. Very bright and crisp. I like it.
