This is the second one that i have purchased, i used the first one on my television and it brought it a lot of extra channels.I can now get 58 channels on my antenna.I bought the second one for my FM radio. With the antenna and this unit i can pull in so many radio stations that i can barely touch the dial and get another radio station. These units work great for people who live in low areas away from the transmitters.

What I like best is power supply inside near distribution panel, no power cable to run

The pre-amp is near the signal source of the antenna, so it does not amplify much of the noise coming from the electrical sources in the house. Only one coax goes up to the roof, and I used the old DirectTV cable for this purpose, and mounted the long-range antenna on a pipe I mounted on the old DirectTV mounting mast. Where the cable comes into the house distribution panel, I connected the RCA Amplifier Receiver/Power-Supply and plugged it into a local outlet. The other end of the pre-amp I plugged into a 5 outlet in-house amplifier/splitter. Living in a good sized city, I now have 56 channels and no monthly charges. I do have internet at home. So I installed Roku, and a computer connected between the TV HDMI port and the internet ($40/month). I have a wireless bluetooth keyboard ...

Either too little amplification or too much

I am not a signal expert. I've read that excessive amplification may cause signal loss. I have approximately 40 feet of good quality COAX running from my garage to my living room with a non-split female coax-coax connector on the way. Assume that the antenna is in the Garage. With this product, the living room TV receives 20 channels (the major ones, such as CBS, FOX, NBC etc). If I use a PCT +11db amplifier instead of this product, the living room TV receives 60+ channels. I have always re-tuned the TV anytime I change the amplifier. So, without any other changes, except for re-tuning the TV, the only thing I need to do to lose 40+ channels in the living room is to replace a PCT +11db amplifier with this RCA +22db amplifier. Complete waste of money in my situation. Now how do I find ...

  • I didn't work for me.

I received my RCA preamplifier today and everything was in the box, however I couldn't get the thing to work properly. I live 50 miles from the broadcasting Station where I get my TV channels from. I have always received between 24 to 36 channels depending on the weather but always got 24 channels no matter what. After my old preamplifier booster went out I could only get 8 to 12 channels and that's exactly what I get with the RCA booster hooked up or without it hooked up. The amplifier obviously does not boost the signal or extend the range of the antenna as advertised. I returned it to seek one that will work like my old one did.

  • Who need cable?

After installing this pre-amp I got all the networks back. I used to get them a couple of years ago but I think the cable company is always figuring out ways to weakening them just at the right time of day. Talking with the FCC I found out that the Cable Co. are the same people that are responsible for monitoring them? What kink of conflict of interest is that?

  • An OK

I purchased this preamplifier to replace an aging unit because several of the local HD TV stations were dropping out with increasing regularity. We live about 20 miles from the transmission towers but we are in a valley and do not have line of sight with the towers. The ridge is also lined with tall trees, making reception difficult. The preamplifier has definitely improved reception. There are still occasional dropouts but far less frequent. Pricewise, the preamplifier has has specifications for noise level and signal gain which meet or exceed those of units priced much higher than it. The installation was fairly easy and only took about 1/2 hr. No info yet concerning long term performance
