    Medium Level Tool

This saw is a well designed, easy to use mid-level tool. Makita has a reputation for making good, useful tools. This is a good saw for homeowners and do-it-yourselfers with little or no experience of tool use. The dual saftey locks protect the user from accidents while giving you an option to use one or two hands while working. I would not suggest trying to use this for heavy demolition or construction as neither the battery power nor the saw motor will handle it well. Other than that, it is a good and useful home tool.

    Lightweight Saw

This Mikita saw is very lightweight, but doesn’t have the power to get much done. I tried using it to trim branches on a soft wood tree, and had to get out a 110v powered saw and run an extension cord across the yard. It’s just too light weight for my use.

  • Good purchase!

I was actually after a larger saw than this like I currently had been using & been kinda concerned. What will I do if it quits or damaged. But when I received this, I thought Rut-Roh-It's too light and I hadn't even opened it yet. But I've been using it & it's great for pruning or trimming one armed. It's not very heavy but it's got the power. And it takes the same battery as my other cordless tools that are Makita. The heavier one I already owned I use mainly for cutting out trees at the root under ground. For pruning & put ya a SKIL UGLY pruning blade on there & go at it. And for the price I'm pleased as I have nerve damage in my right shoulder, arm and hand. I can even use this left handed.

  • Makita makes Good power Tools.

Great for medium duty applications. I use my to cut 3" PVC plastic pipe. One hand operation makes it easy to hold your material for a quick cut. Not as fast as a larger cordless Sawsall. It's light weight, and your able to position it into small working areas.

  • The 18 V lithium ion reciprocating saw made by Makita

Great product fits hand comfortably the angle of handle helps in different positions when in use and is lightweight the 18 V Power supply gives you plenty Power to cut TH I CK boards. The blade guard is adjustable so you can utilize the whole blade when parts of blade DU LL and it is easy to adjust. When battery is on tool it balances in the hand very well

  • Good little saw for home use, light construction type stuff.

Did think it would be just a bit more powerful, but, it's good for what I'm doing with it. Cutting up old pallets into smaller pieces... blade change is certainly easy.

  • Makita 18v compact reciprocating saw

Emphasis on compact. This saw works great, perfect for a homeowner or part time handyman. Not that small but Makita does make a larger, heavy duty, 18v battery saw, it has a straight handle, inline with the blade, both saws feature tool-less blade change. I own both, and recommend them both. Depends on you usage and needs. Anyway it's Makita, very high quality, no complaints.

  • Great light weight saw

Great light weight saw set at the perfect angle to cut easily and made by Makita to boot, so it’ll be around for years. I used one of these at work for years and now I’m retired and I need one of my own and I couldn’t be happier to have this very saw

  • Handy medium duty saw

The Makita XRJ01Z is a handy medium duty saw. It has plenty of power, and is the right size for most DIY projects. I would not use it on big demo projects. The saw has a tool-less blade change system that works great, The body of the saw is big enough to be held with both hands, yet is easily controlled with just one hand. This is one of several Makitas that I have and been very happy with the brand.

  • Great for less demanding jobs.

I am an electrician and use the saw frequently to cut openings in drywall, cut pvc pipe, all thread, and steel conduit. It is great on the drywall and pvc, but the stroke length hurts its performance on tougher jobs like conduit. I should have probably gotten the full size version, but I do love the ergonomics of this model.
