  • Simple, easy to use

I used mine to attach the terminals on a split charging system. The crimper comes with very limited instructions, but is easy to use in practice. The only slight difficulty I discovered, was that once the loose wire and terminal were inserted into the crimper it was a little awkward to hold the wire in place while swinging the hammer to make the joint secure. Ideally, using a second person, or a work bench to hold the wire or crimper is better. That said, I did eight terminals and they all came out well. Light weight and small size make it easy to store too.

  • Excellent

I bought this to crimp a few 25mm2 battery cable terminals on my boat. Much cheaper than the plier-type crimping tools, and I only had a few terminals to do. There were others of this design on the market, but I chose Draper because I have found them to be quality tools. Anyway, the little crimper worked fine. The scale on the side does not seem to be relevant. I think it's in AWG for one thing. For another, I just gave the anvil 3 good wallops with a club hammer and was happy. You need somewhere safe to do that of course: probably not on a boat or a paving slab. It took me a couple of shots to get my crimp straight. The trick is this. On the underside of the tool there is a cross (which creates a cross on the crimped terminal). My terminals had a seam. I found that if I carefully lined up the cross with the seam, the result was straight. I'm a happy bunny!

  • Battery Cable Crimper

I needed a longer length of battery cable and therefore decided to make my own. I had looked at other hand held battery cable crimpers but having used normal crimpers they need a good squeeze and the idea or squeezing a battery cable wasn't ideal. It was a picture of it mounted in a vice that was the clincher and having ordered and made my own cablesusing my vice it couldn't have been simpler to use. Ideal.

  • Bargain tool for low volume crimping

Bought to crimp 6mm (cross section) cables in Anderson connectors. Does a brilliant job at a fraction of the cost of a good hand-held crimper. The main "punch" is spring loaded which holds the job in place while you clout it with a club hammer. I also used for some smaller crimping jobs (2.5mm cable) and it worked well for these too.

  • Easy to use, Well made, Well designed.

Delighted with this purchase as it has made the important job of crimping connector ends a dawdle. With good preparation of the cable end(s) this tool can help create Very secure crimped unions. Decently weighted hammer needed to hammer down hard 2 - 3 times to complete the union. I would highly recommend.

  • A decent tool for easy to use

A easy to use tool that makes what could be a awkward job very easy to do. Excellent for a kit car builder or car customizer that needs to make one off cables for their project.

  • Good tool works well

Bought this to crimp some 95mm battery cable as it was cheaper than hiring, and being Draper thought it would be reasonably good quality. It works well with a hammer and gives an even strong crimp. I found it better to tap repeatedly to give the crimp time to form its shape, and it tends to bounce less with smaller blows. It works even better in a vice and that's the way to go if you can. Overall gives a good solid crimp with no gaps.

  • An essential tool

If you have ever tried to crimp large gauge copper wire for batteries etc you will know just how difficult that is to ensure a safe sealed connection, this handy gadget will make sure you do the job correctly .. very sturdy and well made. Does exactly what it’s supposed to. A must have for any electrical jobs requiring some heavy duty fixings ... worth it’s weight for sure

  • Does exactly what it says reliably.

Works well. I use it with a vice.... kinder to wind down that to bash it with a hammer! An improvement would be a detent to hold the jaw open while you adjust the wire in the crimp, but once you get used to it - especially with a vice, it is 2nd nature.
