I have been using a Xiaomi 2S air purifier for a year with great results. I also had a Philips 1215 air purifier but decided to replace it because it cost $126 to change the filters. After some research, I settled on the Xiaomi 3H air purifier. I like the OLED touch display which has several helpful indicators, including air quality reading, temperature, humidity and percentage of filter usage remaining. It is also very quiet and efficient. Highly recommended.

Operational Usage -- Is simple and has 6 speed settings (Auto, Night mode, Level 1, 2, 3 and Custom/Max) and the noise DB levels are as follows: Night Mode (34), Level 1 (35), Level 2 (54), Level 3 (60), Custom/Max (64). Noise measurement was standing 1 meter from unit in a quiet room. Features -- Can be operated via smartphone or tablet, has RFID (Radio Frequency IDentification) tag which tracks operational usage to provide user information as to when to replace HEPA filter. Has LCD screen which can displays: Current Temp, Humidity, Air Quality (PM 2.5, ug/m3) and wifi status. The display can be at full brightness, dimmed or completely turned off. All extended features you need to use the Xiaomi App with instructions in the manual on where to download via Android Play/Apple store. Price -- Look out for price drops and cashback offers and you can get a really good deal on this product but still well worth the price if you need to have clean air! 3H Model -- It is best to get the AU model as this will allow you to connect your purifier using a server (eg. able to set app server to Australia). Should I get the 3H or Pro version? -- If you have a large open plain room (eg. Living Room & Kitchen) then I would recommend the Pro version but the only difference is the volume of air filtered. So if waiting an extra 2 to 5 minutes for the 3H to do the same area coverage is worth that extra $100 you decide. If this is for a smaller room or bedroom the 3H is the more suitable size you should get Maintenance Cost -- You will need to replace the HEPA filter that comes with the 3H anywhere between 6 to 12 months. This depends on your usage and the air quality in your area. So for those who have poor air quality (eg. smog, bushfires, car/factory pollution) expect to replace your filter sooner and more frequently than those who have better air quality. The H13 grade (GREY coloured) filter will cost between $75 to $90 AUD RRP for Australians. But you can find this for half the cost (genuine and original) so wait for sales and buy accordingly. Filter Types -- H13 Graded (GREY) HEPA filter, H11 Graded (GREEN) HEPA filter & H11 Graded (PURPLE) HEPA filter. These are the 3x types of filters you can install inside the 3H and Pro version of the air purifier. The GREY filter is the best of the lot with the ability to filter out small particles like pollen and great for those who also suffer from Asthma. Where as the GREEN filter will remove formaldehyde and other harmful substances and are best for worksites (where toxic fumes area in play such as when painting indoors) and are also good for Haze/bushfires/general car/factory pollution). The PURPLE filter which is generally the cheapest of the 3 is for general air filtration (doesn't filter pollen particles and not for removing toxic fumes). All of them (if buying original & genuine) will come with an RFID tag found on the bottom of the filter regardless of the filter functionality/colour type. My Final Thoughts & Opinion -- While there are many other brands of air filters I can not go past the ongoing cost of the filter which is generally cheaper than other brands and in the long term is what you need to pay to keep this device working. For about $35/$40 AUD for a GREY, H13 graded HEPA filter compared to over $100+ for competitors, this is a no brainer. So for function, design form and ongoing maintenance cost this wins hands down. I like that it has the ability to be programmed such as to turn on or off automatically at set times and for different days via the Xiaomi app. The app will also allow you to update the unit's firmware which from time-to-time updated for improvements. It has a nice clear display and the square white block generally blends into most rooms and you won't even know it's there! It has a fairly quiet motor and fairly inexpensive electricity consumption if using all day. Well worth the money spent and is great for those worried about bushfire smoke (lets hope a repeat doesn't happen again) or those who have alleges like hay fever or Asthma. The air filtering is relatively quick on the higher settings. Highly Recommended!Read full review

automatic mode is very quite, filters are the best value for money on the market, Filters also have an RFID chip in them which protects you from buying fake filters. When connecting the mobile phone app to the filter via bluetooth it will say move phone closer to air purifier.. What it means is put mobile phone on top of filter, then bluetooth connects. mobile app gives estimated number of days till filter will need replacing. you can set an automatic schedule for start and stop times. Xiaomi's business model is to have the biggest market share by offering outstanding value for money. With the biggest market share they get huge cost savings in production, which enable great value for money products.

Product works as described. Quiet and effective. The "smart" integrations are great - app and Google Home integration. I would recommend this.

Very quiet at low speed, seems to operate well - a couple of issues: 1. Cannot run device in China Mainland region (which my other Mi devices are set to) 2. Loud beep when you turn power on and off - can't find a way to silence it!
