Great way to stream from your phone
I've had a 1st generation Chromecast for many years now, and the refurbished 3rd generation one I received definitely lives up to its legacy. Other than a more attractive form factor I can't say I've noticed any significant difference between the two, but there was nothing really wrong with the 1st gen models, anyway. I have an Amazon Fire Stick as well, and I find them both easy to use and totally capable of mirroring my phone screen, bringing up photos on the TV, and casting from apps like YouTube, Netflix, Hulu, etc.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Easy set up and use some sound issues
Mostly enjoying this product. It was very easy to set up using the google home app and connecting to various devices. Picture is clear. The only issue I'm having is with sound. Most of the time it's fine, but at low volumes the sound cuts out. I miss quiet scenes (footsteps, page turning, background noice, etc.). Google Chromecast is a Genuis Product
The Chromecast is about the size of a cookie - it's very minimal, and can be powered by the USB port on your TV, or optional included plug adapter. Set-up is very intuitive - it took five minutes. There is no remote to keep track of. You "cast" videos, music, and other content from your phone, tablet, laptop, or desktop (even non-Google products). Casting is flawless, hardly uses any data, and after casting for six full hours from my iPad the other day, my battery went from 100% to 96%. While casting a show, you can use your device normally, and it doesn't affect the video at all. You can close your laptop, talk on the phone, text, etc, and the streaming will continue (until you stop it.) You can cast from the other end of the house to a family member's TV, and it's like watching a brand-new DVD. And this is not even the latest generation of the Chromecast. This is their 3rd Generation product. As an added bonus, the 3rd Generation Chromecast is less than $30 right now. Great choice for general streaming
It was not the easiest to set up but not really that hard either. I wasn't able to set it up with a PC as I did in the past. I needed to download the Google Home app to my phone and tablet. I have 2 Chromecasts (one new and the other 2 yrs older) and operate them on the less crowded 5 GHz WiFi band but with the Google Home app, I can control them with my old tablet which only operates on 2.4 GHz WiFi! I use a Roku streaming box for most of my streaming as it operates much like a cable box. I use the Chromecast for content not available on Roku and for mirroring my computer screen. I purchased my latest one to watch Catholic Mass broadcast on Facebook. It works great with Chromebooks and smartphones. Chromecast streaming device
Good product. Inexpensive and easy to setup. Only downsides- you can’t chromecast Apple TV Shows or screen mirror. Also you can’t switch channels as fast as other streaming devices because there is no remote. A really cool device
I'm disabled and my whole house is set up on Google devices. I control my lights and ceiling fans and music and TV with Google. Almost as good as a Firestick!
This does practically everything a Firestick does except what I wanted to use it for the most. I use a Firestick to watch TV & Alexa for the speaker(s). I wanted to use Chromecast to watch TV & Google Home Mini for the speaker(s). It works great if you use Chromecast to listen to Pandora or another music app but if you watch Netflix, Hulu, or another video streaming app the audio output is ONLY through the HDMI and cannot be sent to Google Home Mini or a bluetooth speaker.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
