This is amazingly simple to use and clean. Put food in the basket, turn one dial for temperature (175 to 400F) then turn the other for how long to cook (1 to 60 minutes). The fryer will heat to the desired temperature and shut off when the timer expires. Only the basket and tray (or tray liner purchased separately) need to be cleaned either by hand or in the dish washer.
The tray is big enough for 3 small chicken thighs or 2 large ones. I fried them skin down for 15 minutes and then skin up for 15 minutes at 375F. Fully cooked and crispy.
These types of fryers are not compact, they will take up space. This one is not heavy and is easy to move around though. It probably could use an air filter screen (like the metal screens you see on a stove vent fan), but I've seen no oily splatter yet. So probably fine on that.
If you just need to quickly fry up food for 1 or 2 people with little prep and cleaning, this is for you.
When is this not for you?
If you need to cook more at one time, then get a bigger one. If you need to fry things for more than an hour (though I think that might carbonize most things). If you need to fry at over 400F. If you must control it with your phone. If you want complex cooking control, e.g. cook at 250F for 10 min, then 400F for 20 min.
