Great, Easy to Use Streaming Stick

The Roku Streaming Stick is simple to set up and easy to use, and it works great! I went with this model because it has the better internet connection. We have Google Wifi, and so far everything is working great with no problems or disconnects. We have six TV's, only one of which is a smart TV, so I needed five Roku's. I had them all hooked up and working in an hour or so, given that I had to set up Youtube TV and some other things on each of them. My only concern (and I'm not sure if any of this is the Roku's fault) is that streaming seems to use a heck of a lot of GBs. We were on a 250 GB/mo. plan before and had to switch to a 1,000 GB/mo. plan for streaming, which doesn't look like even that will be enough. So far in the first month, with 14 days to go, we've used over 630 GBs. This is possibly due to having too many programs recorded initially on Youtube TV (which we used to DVR on Directv). I just don't know yet, and I'm monitoring the daily GB usage, which has varied between 8 GBs to 34 GBs. I know we watch TV more on the weekends, and I can't tell if Mediacom is consistently reporting it on their website.

    So far, not so impressed.

Somewhat time consuming set up. Not hard, just takes about 30 minutes or so. I like the fact it plugs directly into the T.V. needing no set top box or cables. I don't like the fact there is no way to turn it off. It is always on, whether we are using it or not. It takes quite a bit of time too find the channel we want. Each time we turn it on we are inundated with channels we don't have, or want. We have to scroll through to find the ones we signed up for. Remote has buttons to go directly to Netflix, Disney, Hulu, and Vudu, but we do not subscribe to those channels. Remote control is very poorly designed with volume and mute buttons on the side. Every time we pick up remote we seem to hit those side buttons and mute the sound. I've almost thrown it out the window a few times!! We are new to streaming. So far, we are not so impressed.

  • Roku is lifechanging!

Never imagined how happy I was going to be with this product! I ordered it to make it possible to have the Hulu live tv service on my television. But it does way more than that! It was extremely easy to set up - directions are spot on. The remote is simple and easy to operate. Roku is like a tv brokerage service. I can use the microphone on the remote to ask for anything in music or tv and it will tell me where I can find it and if it will cost anything. For example, now I just say a movie name, like "Stripes" and it will bring up my Netflix account and I can just click on it. No more scrolling and looking for things! I wanted to listen to a song and it brought up I heart radio and played it. Worth more than every penny I paid for it!!

  • Gonna take over the world

Got the streaming stick Plus at a discount, completely happy with it. I have always disliked the simple appearance of the remote and it has kept me from buying it until now. I have a coffee table full of remotes that look complex and futuristic like the samsung smart remote, but you know what?-I rather enjoy the simple functionality of the roku remote, very easy to use without looking at it and I use the voice search constantly to find content at the best price. It also has an improved wifi antenna built into the cord which greatly improves weak signal reception. I see now that the new Ultra 4661 is in several big box black friday sales at around half price $49 vs $98, it has ethernet, micro sd slot, remote finder and JBL earphones, I have never seen a better deal in electronics than that so I have to get it. Now realize that all of this content is available on the internet and you don't absolutely need a streaming device if you have a smart tv, you can download the apps. But all the added abilities together makes roku's a no brainer today.

  • Great Product

My parents have a newer tv but it doesn’t get Disney Plus because of their cable provider. With this they can stream all Disney Plus, Amazon Prime Video, HULU and Netflix much easier than going thru Comcast. Confusing to start since you have to use a pc but after that it’s very easy.

  • Small and compact and works great!

Roku has come a long way from the big boxes that used sit on the table. This little stick is easy to set-up and use and has many features. I did need to order the free HDMI extender from Roku as my TV was 7 years old.

  • Great product!

I should have purchased the Roku long time ago. Pros: Lots of channels to watch, probably thousands but a wifi connection is required. Cons: Sometimes the channels would change without operating the remote. Have to go into settings, system, advanced system settings. Still having trouble with YouTube especially when watching long videos. The YouTube stream would get interrupted and a new video would play. I still haven't found a remedy for this issue.

  • Excellent functionality (once setup). Great value.

The setup isn't difficult but it takes some time because there are numerous steps. Once done, however, the device works well. It uses RF rather than IR so line-of-sight from the remote is not needed. There are features available on more expensive models, but this succeeds at its purpose.

  • Good value, great features.

Easy to use streamer stick once iit is set up and activated. Samsung was super easy. Insignia not so much (model not supported). Using xfinity app makes navigation easier along with voice control. Overall it performs very well. Incentive to buy more and cut some cables.

  • The product as expected.

The product as described. Easy set-up, power from TV USB, starts quicker than was mentioned on product review. Use several days no issue was observed. Good features are power on-off also applies to TV and volume control. No any issue issue while watching Youtube or channels while several hours. Neg: No internet surfing application. Only through Firefox with smartphone/tablet. All channels in English. No opportunity to set-up Azerbaijan or Russian channels.
