There were no instructions provided so I can only guess at what the screws included were for (maybe to help rotate a polarizer as you change from horizontal to vertical?). Maybe there is some trick to making it work on the 40mm lens, but it lacks the groove that the 28mm lens has. Maybe it works on the retro style 40mm?
