About this product

Product Information

Twenty years after it appeared on PCs, Bethesda Softworks' acclaimed action RPG series achieves its massively multiplayer destiny in The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited. Set roughly 1,000 years before the events of Skyrim, the game drops players onto the continent of Tamriel during a time of great upheaval, with the Daedric Prince Molag Bal and the necromancer Mannimarco unleashing hordes of undead abominations on the land, and the Daggerfall Covenant, Aldmeri Dominion, and Ebonheart Pact battling one another for control of the Empire.

The Daggerfall Covenant controls the provinces of High Rock and Hammerfell, and includes the Breton, Redguard, and Orc races; the Aldmeri Dominion rules over Valenwood, Elsweyr, and the Summerset Isles, and consists of Wood Elves, High Elves, and Khajit; while Dark Elves, Nords, and Argonians comprise the Ebonheart Pact, which tenuously governs Skyrim, Morrowind, and the Black Marsh. The race players choose dictates their alliance, but they are free to develop their own unique battle style and can wear any armor, wield any weapon, and use any magic they please.

Classic Elder Scrolls action comes in PvE form, with gamers earning gold and treasure by accepting quests, exploring caves and dungeons, and battling an assortment of wild creatures, bandits, and monsters. Once players reach level ten, they can begin participating in massive PvP events, which may involve hundreds of gamers appearing on screen simultaneously. All three factions clash in the region known as Cyrodiil, where they battle for control of fortresses, farms, lumber mills, and other strategic resources and strongholds that will help them gain influence in the region, with the ultimate goal of winning the Ruby Throne in the Imperial City. Each faction controls a stronghold, within which lies an Elder Scroll that can be captured and taken to other strongholds to offer alliance-wide bonuses.

The Elder Scrolls Online makes use of "Megaserver" technology, which is designed to automatically connect gamers with friends, guild members, or likeminded strangers, and a battle-leveling system was put in place to ensure fairness by temporarily increasing the combat effectiveness of those clashing with players of a higher level. Earning points in PvP action lets gamers purchase siege weapons and bonuses that may help turn the tide of battle, and the highest-ranking players in an alliance can be crowned Emperor, earning special abilities in the process. In development for more than seven years, The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited is a free-to-play game that includes all previously released updates and additions, and features voiced dialogue from established actors John Cleese, Bill Nighy, Kate Beckinsale, and Alfred Molina.

My 12yr old loves this game

My son said its not as good as Skyrim but he did enjoy this game a lot. You do need internet to play this game. He spent about 90 hours playing it the first time and after playing Skyrim he started this game again. Definitely worth buying.

    Not skyrim

I bought this thinking it would be somewhat similar to Skyrim. The only real similarity between the two are the races and the graphics. Other than that these two are almost completely different. In this game you have to upgrade your magic and keep them on hot keys, as opposed to the dual wielding of Skyrim. The crafting is completely different and there is very little resemblance to the Skyrim crafting. It takes getting used to. I am used to being able to interact with every single detail in Skyrim, like being able to pull plates off of shelves or separate ingredients. In this it's more inventory based and you cannot manipulate the outside world. The multiplayer part gets really distracting at times. I have only just started playing so I do not know how it will work out. Seems to have an ...

  • SO DISAPPOINTING

I loved skyrim, and this game broke my heart. The menu is a mess, with no way to favorite items, which, in combination with the fact that it is a multiplayer game and so combat can't be paused, means that there is no way to reactively change equipment. Oh, and each inventory item now takes up one space instead of some items being larger or smaller, so player inventory fills up way too fast. The graphics were gorgeous, but that is literally the only positive.

  • Addicting, fun all around

This is the first game I have played on xbox one that has so much to offer. You have collecting items for crafting, shrines, exploring lots of areas to find new places such as dungeons, cyrptys, tombs, and so much more. Pvp sections and group quests or just quest on your own. Great game.

  • Watered down Skyrim.

This game was not what I had expected what so ever. It felt like a poorer made watered down version of Skyrim. The game was just not captivating like its predecessors and had a lot of technical issues that end up kicking you out of the server back to the main menu right in the middle of something important. Having that happen several times i disheartening to say the least.
