am never compelled to write a review...but could not refuse on this....a bunch of money was thrown at this movie and it is absolutely horrible...characters you quickly hate, especially the mother...who leaves her children totally alone 6 times in the first 15 minutes.;.jump scares are the worst just so formulaic by old coot standards...and james wan put his name on this....1st of all of these productions that was not well written .....not original......and NOT scary..... sorry...

If you like horror films that are low on gore, with the possibility that the main characters can outwit the supernatural entity rather than simply being picked off one by one, then add this to your collection. The acting is top notch, especially the child actors who appeared genuinely frightened. The ghost's behavior doesn't always make sense --- if her goal is to kill children, why return repeatedly to move furniture and otherwise pointlessly scare them, rather than go in for the kill when she has the chance? But the same can be said of almost every ghost or demon possession movie. If we accept as fact that ghosts and demons, for some reason, have to play tricks on their victims before doing serious damage, then La Llorona fits the pattern. It's scary while it lasts, but horror fans aged ten and up shouldn't be traumatized. Read full review

I really enjoyed the movie, kept me on the edge of my seat! I loved how it was set in the 1970's and the aerial shots of Los Angeles were very creative and spooky.
