It's an awesome buy if you don't mind ditching the Iris Sensors

The Smartthing hub works awesome but is extremely difficult to pair up any items from Iris mostly due to the fact that the smartthings hub doesn't support secure pairing where Iris did support it which was one of the main reason I went with Iris over a year ago. It's the only flaw I can find with it and since most of my items are secure it's taken forever to pair up like Iris motion detectors, and Iris open/close sensors. Now, anything that's not Iris pairs really fast. I'm still working out connecting Google Home to the Smartthings Hub. Over all its pretty straight forward and easily has 2-3 times more items to pair than Iris ever did. It's definitely worth buying.

    Not an easy install

Couldn't get it to work with app. The directions say it is easy to install and use with the app that you download onto your smart phone or tablet. But I tried to download the app which took more than one try and I still can't get the app to find the smart Hub. So much for being easy! I don't know if it is a good value because I haven't been able to get it work. I don't know if is of good quality either for the same reason. But I couldn't post this review without putting something in those categories.

  • 3rd generation Samsung smart hub

The only reason I gave it 1 less star is because I was an avid user of the Smart Things 1st generation hub and had never had a problem until Samsung took over and basically obsoleted the app and the interface with the 1st generation hub. I got this used unit and it works great. Sort of difficult to convert prior smart items to this 3rd gen hub and app but with new smart items, it worked great. Transition could have been easier.

  • Smart Things Rocks!

Easy to set up with the app. I already have light bulbs,& water leak detector up and running. and I'm no techie. Highly recommended.

  • Great Home Automation Solution!

The Samsung SmartThings Gen3 Hub is very easy to set up. I bought this as a replacement hub. I had the Gen1 and was disapointed that it went out of service, but this Gen 3 replacement has been great. I've set up all the original lights that I had on my Gen1 and it seemed much easier than it was on the Gen1. I can also access everything configured in my Philips Hue hub. I've set up some new routines with no issues. Great device and will be recommending others look for this one as well.

  • Difficult to set up

Spent over an hour to get the hub to connect to the internet and then register. Coming from a Wink and Vera Plus this has been by far the most troublesome set up. So far I was able to link a Smartthing motion sensor and a door sensor. After linking a Hue bridge I have not found a way to link the bulbs in a group so that they can be controlled at once. I would not recommend this product. The new APP tries to do many things and none are done well.

  • Works well and relatively good condition.

The item wasn't like new but a bit warn and scuffed, but still in pretty good condition. The power supply is also not the one that matches with it but still powers on and work as expected. So over all a good experience. Connects to my Z-wave switches and garage opener no problem.

  • Smart things

Bought this to add zigbee and zwave items, seems to work well with some items. You will need to edit items in order to connect with this. Not all zigbee items works with smart things

  • Great hub for making your home smart!

I love working with Smartthings and have experience putting in a Samsung wifi mesh network using the 3 hub option in another house, but just getting the hub made sense now as we have a Nighthawk router that's really fast (we have a 1 gig connection speed) and I just want to get the smart home features set up. Anyway, the hub works great, is inconspicuous, and does a great job integrating with just about every smart home accessory/switch/etc. out there, including Alexa, Z-Wave and Zigbee devices. Bottom line, it does everything I need it to do and it does it well, so in my experience you're making a wise choice when choosing this hub for smart home automation purposes. Granted, there's always room for improvement, but overall I'm very pleased. Thanks Samsung!

  • Nice unit but didn't fit my needs

I was hoping to transition from an old version light. But I have a couple of interfaces that mimick a button press on the Vera I can instruct a device to turn on for a second or two then turn off. There doesn't seem to be any way to copy that functionality to this device. I didn't go much beyond that. I had hoped to use the Samsung to unify zwave, signed and wifi devices under a single controller, but decided to revert to the Vera and give this to a friend.
