Best reception
This units tuner outperformed any device I've had. That includes Airtv, Tablo, Samsung & Hisense TV's. It picks up stations where others failed and the stations are perfectly stable now without any pixelating or break up. I can't believe the difference this device made. OTA TV is now enjoyable to watch. I especially like the quality of the new atsc 3.0 stations that are absolutely perfect running on my 4K firesticks.with the HD Homerun software. Best investment I've made for OTA reception. I always thought it was my antennas that were the problem or my pre amps (tried several brands) but with this tuner and no pre amp this thing gives perfect reception. Better than I expected.
Was easy to install. Screw on the coax, plug in network cable, power on, go to the device's webpage, update, do a channel scan, install the app on your viewing device, launch app and there are your channels. 30 min later...surprise your channels are available via DNLA too, was viewing through VLC too. My Roku 4k streaming stick doesn't get audio, working on sorting that. Using the Roku media doesnt work with DNLA, downloads a bit and starts playing really fast. Channel schedule for 24hrs is free but if you want 2weeks of schedule data it's $35/year. The fee gets you dvr functionality with recording on a different device, like Plex. Haven't plugged a drive into the the flex 4k yet but it appears recording to an attached drive maybe free. I'm pretty happy with it. I get a occasional hiccups but I'm only using an indoor flat rectangle antenna. Will eventually get an antenna on the roof, baby steps. Wouldn't know it was a refurb. Automatically discovered by Channels DVR software. Just add antenna. Does need hard wire connection to your network, no WiFi, as expected.
