    Best value side focus scope from a name you can trust

    I have had the Hawke Varmint 4-16 X 44 for several years. The Vantage is basically the updated version, however, other than a couple of cosmetics the scope is the same. This time I opted for 3-12 X 44 simply because it focuses down to 10 yards rather than 15, furthermore, I normally use either 8x or 10x magnification so there was no point in purchasing a scope with 16x magnification. I am more than happy with the original Varmint and still use it on a regular basis. I have bought an additional air rifle hence the purchase of the updated Vantage version. I definitely recommend this scope over and above the Hawke Air Max range as the Vantage range offer far better value. there are a whole plethora of side focus scopes on eBay for half the price, but I would rather pay more for a scope from a ...

    Not up to standard

    I find this scope to be less than adequate for the purpose in mind, namely hunting in low light conditions. The parallax figures don,t correspond with the actual distances , in fact they are a mile out. At dusk the image is very poor , making judging distances very difficult which is essential when hunting live quarry. The only things i like about this scope the fact that is light in weight and has a half mil-dot reticule.
