    Powerful & Dyson quality

This is the most powerful vacuum that I've owned. Take some getting used to with the lagging feeling of the ball and the loud switch over to tools mode if you snap the handle to upright while power is on. But then the ball gives you a swivel that you don't have with conventional vacs. Not for the frail - you need some muscle to maneuver it. I took one star away since there's not a motorized head that goes under the beds, couches, etc. An auto-retracting cord would be a nice design improvement - but the price was fair for the powerful suction.

Hate, loathe, regret, stench, want to cry - cheap, poor design, I want my old yellow Dyson back!

I'm English, we've been proud Dyson users since they were made available to the public. This is personally my 4th vacuum from Dyson. I hate it. And I mean with every fibre of my being, I HATE it. PROS: it does a "decent" job of picking up pet hair off the floor, but you may need a couple runs to pick up a random piece of dry dog food. It gets under spots once you get the hang of the ball design. CONS: It reeks of burnt plastic every time I use it. I've had to stop and walk away to breathe. My home is all tile and hardwood, yet the brush comes on automatically, every single time - which makes a horrible racket, so I have to be at the ready to turn the brush off immediately to avoid my small dogs scattering in terror. There is also a HUGE design flaw in the manual hose: When you pull it away from the unit to hoover hard-to-reach spots, or pop something into the nozzle that you found on the floor, the moment you place it back on the handle and force the handle back down to return to hoovering the floors, it spits out EVERYTHING under the Dyson, which you then have to return over, then hoover the floor up where it's dropped the mess. It does not send the hose contents to the canister!?!? Turns out there's a flap at the bottom - BY DESIGN, which opens and closes based on using the main unit versus the hose. The power button sticks, which I fully expected in the beginning with a new product, but 10+ uses in and it's STILL sticking to the point it takes me 3-4 times to turn it on or off. The handle collapses when you're done and push it upright, despite the *click* that assures you it's supposedly in place. You have to aggressively manhandle it at least a couple times to get it to stand upright, or it falls to the ground. And then every time you try to lower it again, to hoover the floors, it's yet another wrestling match. I'm in constant fear I'm going to break it, as it feels so cheap and rigid. I'm kicking myself for donating my yellow Dyson, which was perfect other than needing a hose replacement. I have never hated an inanimate object in my life - this is a first. DO NOT buy this model...unless you're masochistic. I want the old Dyson back!!!!

  • Good but not great

Dyson makes great vacuums, my first dyson is still working after 20 years but some of the parts are wearing out did i mention 20 yrs! The new Original model has great suction and is very maneuverable however its hard to push because the self adjusting power head cannot keep the suction from pulling the power head to the carpeting ( plush carpet). Thats why i gave it 4 stars and not 5. Its really a 3 1/2 but still the best vacuum on the market.

  • Good product that needs better features that are user friendly.

Nice vacuum, just wish it got under low places easily, and the retractable wand used for stair cleaning, dusting and small jobs is not easy to use. It is always pulling back, you have to fight it in order to use. This design is poor and needs to be changed.

  • GREAT VACUUM!

It's a wonderful machine! The instruction booklet was about the best one I've ever seen! Clear large illustrations.... maybe could've used a few WORDS here & there (it's all done in pictures) but I figured it out)! I also have one of their desktop combo fan & air filters. They make great products. The vacuum parts were packaged beautifully! and included in the box was a very nice booklet about the inventor's life! I enjoyed reading it! Very happy with the vacuum and recommend it!

  • I should have read more reviews, beautiful but very difficult to use

I've been excited about getting a better vacuum for awhile. This was a gift or else I'd be even more upset. It's beautiful. and a power house of a machine. But It is very annoying and difficult to use. I'm not happy at all. It's heavy, gets hot, loud... but those things are passable. It doesn't fit under most furniture, the cord is constantly getting in the way, and using the tube extender for attachments is SO completely annoying and a lot to work. The tube doesn't just retract it kinda pulls the whole machine toward you, and you can't easily go from using the floor vacuum to using the tools. This is because the tube doesn't easily go back on the vacuum. It's very frustrating. I keep thinking I'll get used to it, but I haven't yet. I would, maybe I will, return it but it's not easy to do during the pandemic. I'm disappointed. But I feel like I should have read more reviews because I see similar complaints.

  • Not bad but, not what I was led to believe. A bit over-priced also.

I read some ratings on this and they were excellent. It was a little tricky to assemble and the ball motion is weird too, plus, it's quite heavy and clunky but, pretty good suction, better than the cheapies. I had a wind-tunnel type of vac, this MAY have somewhat better suction than that one but, this one is more expensive though. It doesn't have an extensive tool set (only two), not self-propelled and no automatic cord re-winder either which can become tedious, especially with a longer cord. I do like the stated 5 year warranty but, I haven't had any contact with that yet, so, I don't know it that's just a sales pitch or not. Overall this vac is OK but, I don't think a 4.6 (overall ratings that I found) by any means though.

  • Excellent suction, is heavier w/o light and is not cordless

This is an excellent vacuum cleaner it has great suction and is easy to clean 🧼 I haven’t used the tools it comes with for furniture since I prefer using my hand held vacuum over this one. The only problems I have with this vacuum cleaner is that has no lights to see the floor when vacuuming and its heavier than other vacuum. Thus us not a cordless cleaner either so it limits how far you can go before switching the outlet in a different room.

  • Not as fantastic as expected, but does what it's supposed to do fairly well for a 2-bedroom condo.

Pros: expected good cleaning/suction functionality, ball is more maneuverable than expected, easy to empty, long power cord, good rotating brush function on short pile rugs and bare floors. Cons: Rotating brush gets stuck on slightly higher pile rugs and gets stuck, dust bin comes off to easily off the vacuum as if it's not hooked on well, short extension tubing.

  • Great vacuum cleaner

It was extremely easy to put together and it has great suction on my carpet. I expect my home to be much cleaner and I thought the $189 was well worth it. I hope it doesn’t fall apart quickly because it is only made of plastic but it does have 2 filters and I really like that. It comes with a 5year warranty hopefully I won’t have to use it. I’m very hard on vacuum cleaners so if it lasts 2years I figure it only cost $100 a year. It’s a very vibrant color
